Just got a report from Agatha Lee, still on her search for the stolen recipe to Hillhouse Naturals Journey No. 918 TOP SECRET recipe.

"It has taken me over three days to integrate enough into the local scene here to get reliable information. My Spanish is not as good as it should be. I tell everyone I am Canadian! They seem to like that, I always liked Canadians too!

The recipe is INDEED stashed inside this warehouse shown in my first picture. The car there was driven by a rather dapper young man, sporting a blue sport coat and white shoes. I guess he wasn't trying to hide!

My sources tell me they are trying to reverse engineer the 5 oz Diffuser they bought online. Thankfully, our top Scent Scientist back in the World Headquarters at Wickliffe Kentucky tell me that reverse engineering is quite impossible. Apparently, they combine ingredients in such a way that the originals merge in a way that masks, at a molecular level the identities. It's a trick of nature that Hillhouse Naturals has leveraged to both produce an unbreakable code AND a magnificent product.

So, all we need to know....is who did this, and why? Perhaps Mr. Lennon, sitting casually on this bench in Havana, knows more than he is saying...

Agatha Lee, in Havana Cuba sent the following report via a dozen short email messages. Internet is difficult to come by in Havana, especially when one is trying to blend in. Her report..

"This is my cab, until the dirver ran out of gas and said something like: Espera aquí, voy a estar de vuelta....which I think meant "Wait here..."

I didn't, of course. But, I did capture a nice picture of his abandoned taxi as I walked away in search of another. Note the lack of any taxi identification, he was a pirate cab!

My next taxi was a shared ride, but who am I to complain? Jose and Estrella loved practicing their SPANISH on me! Ha! They thought I was a local! My disguise was working.

They were Canadian tourists! Who would have thunk....of course we aren't that far from Ft. Lauderdale when you think about it......

Alas, they were off to the Monserrate Bar, and I wasn't....

My driver wouldn't take me any farther than where I took this picture. She said she had been robbed twice on that street, and refused to drive there anymore.

Bermuda, Key West, Cuba...in search of Journey No. 918

at sea with the "Essence", in pursuit of pirates

Agatha Lee, recently having spent 3 days at sea, in pursuit of the pirates has this report:

"I almost got shot trying to sneak onto the pirate sailboat back in Beaufort. It was dark and the old cook shot blindly into the moonless night. Lucky for me!

Key West

I did not manage to retrieve the secret recipe for Journey No. 918 but I did manage to grab a notebook on my way overboard into the chilly Beaufort harbor waters. Making my way back to "Essence" I found my friends, Captain Kona and his faithful macaw Tiwaka. They've agreed to help me shadow the pirate boat wherever it goes.....

Key West was first. Two days at sea without a stop! We all took turns steering, and as you may have noticed the moon is slim and unhelpful.

The pirates were in port there about an hour, enough apparently to get fuel, food and grog.

We did the same on "Essence". At dusk they set off again and we followed....

Tiwaka, the macaw mascot seemed to sense trouble moments out of harbor. The pirates were going due east, into the open Atlantic. No way they were supplied to make Africa! It must be a pirate trick to ditch people like us who might follow them out of a port.

We hung tight though and around 2AM they turned south by southwest....By dawn we were offshore of Cuba.

Havana 2011

By midday I was in a taxi older than me, trailing a taxi older than both of us! It appears we are headed into the agricultural areas outside of Havana. I fear they are taking our beloved recipe to some master grower, to see if they can reproduce the Hillhouse Natuarals Farm magic.

There, the suspected sailboat with a suspected cache of stolen Sea Jasmine, a secret ingredient in Journey No. 918 was boarded by PIRATES no less, while Agatha was on board.

She had to jump into the chilly harbor waters and make her way, in the dark, to the docks.

Yesterday it was a large cache of Sea Jasmine...and today? An unusual shipment, 10 sea containers of patchouli!

Detective Agatha Lee got the tip from scanning the recent Tweets concerning ship arrivals at the local docks of Savannah in the great state of Georgia.

Journey No. 918 and the stolen secret recipe are now taking our intrepid investigator to the Peach state...and we didn't even have a peach anywhere near that recipe!

That’s right, the Mississippi River begins in Minnesota, and winds south past Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri. But it does not become the “Mighty Mississippi” until it is joined by the Ohio River, and that’s at Wickliffe! The Great River then flows south from Wickliffe to the Gulf of Mexico at New Orleans, so Wickliffe is truly the Birthplace of the Mighty Mississippi!

We’d love to show you our town and our community. You’ll see the Mississippi River from atop Fort Jefferson Hill, where the beautiful 90 foot Memorial Cross stands as a monument to this “crossroads of America” with a unique view of the confluence of America’s two great rivers, the Ohio and the Mississippi. You’ll visit Wickliffe Mounds and learn of the Mississippian Native American culture that thrived here many centuries ago. You’ll see the site of Fort Jefferson, an important outpost both during Revolutionary War days and again during the Civil War.

Wickliffe is the birthplace of the Mighty Mississippi," the Great River flowing south to the Gulf, after the Ohio joins the Upper Mississippi at Wickliffe.

I love keeping my home looking and smelling great. With two active little girls running around, sometimes keeping it clean is hard to accomplish. I am always picking up toys and books that seem to come from their rooms and end up in the living room and kitchen and even at some points end up in the bathroom of all places. I love to keep a clean home for my girls and find myself cleaning almost on a daily basis. I am not a perfectionist by no means, I just feel that a clean and nice smelling home reflects on a person and I hate it when even my mother in law or sister in law come over to the house and it is not picked up and looking good. I love to have candles, scented oils, potpourri and more throughout my house to make it smelling fresh and relaxing. The same things can be said about my appearance. I always like to make an impression with my choice of perfumes or lotions that makes people ask me what I am wearing. There's nothing better than making a lasting impression on someone, especially my hubby. I found a great place where you can not only find scents for your home but for you as well. The place:Hillhouse Naturals and they have some really wonderful and unique collections that feature candles, lotions, and reed diffusers among other products. I was lucky enough to receive the following products for review:

*Bloom Diffuser- Delicious as the fresh breath of spring, a delicate floral bouquet of water lily, lotus flower, and jasmine is underscored with the cool green notes of fresh bamboo and vetiver. I have only used one reed diffuser throughout my home before. I have looked at them in the stores and some of them are really expensive. After using this particular diffuser in my home, I would be likely to pay the extra money for one of these. Even upon taking this out of the box, you get the wonderful, sweet aroma like fresh picked flowers. To me, it reminded me of my grandmother's lilac bushes that she always used to have out front of her house, you know the pretty purple ones that have such a wonderful aroma? I have this diffuser in my living room on top of the stereo and everytime I walk past it, I get the delicious scent. I usually flip the reeds everyday or every other day so that I get even more fragrance going on throughout my room. The fragrance contains essential oils and the reeds release the fragrance into the air by allowing the highly concentrated perfumed liquid to seep up through the reeds and evaporate. I really love having this diffuser in my home because it really makes it have a fresh, fragrant and clean feeling to it.

*Olive Leaf Diffuser- A classic beauty from the Mediterranean-ancient home of the olive tree renewed for the current nature loving trend. This herbal blend combines fresh, crisp notes of lemon verbena, green olive leaves, pettigrain and cucumber with warm woody whiffs of patchouli and cedarwood. I also love the scent of this diffuser, which I have in my bathroom. It provides a unique scent and I definitely can smell the hints of lemon verbena and cucumber. This is a really great diffuser to have around your home because of all of the combinations of scents that it has going on through it. This is one that guests to your house will definitely be asking about.

*Birch Soy Candle-This candle has an invigorating, woodsy scent. My hubby really enjoyed this candle, said it reminded him of going out camping in the woods. This is a candle in the new Signature Collection from Hillhouse Naturals along with Fresh Cut Grass, which is always a favorite scent of mine, French Tulip, Mango, and Gardenia Tuberose. We usually don't burn candles during the warmer weather and summer months, it's something we usually do during the cold winters and rainy fall days, but as soon as hubby heard the scent, he wanted to try it. Not only is he a lover of candles like I am, he likes the "tough" and woodsy scents better than what vanilla and fruity scents. This really is a nice scented candle, not too overpowering of a scent yet just enough to tell what it is. This was definitely a really nice candle and long-lasting.

*Fresh Linen Body Creme- Clean and uplifting, there's nothing better than Fresh Linen to help you unwind at the end of the day or get you ready to start a new one. This exceptionally soft and subtle fragrance inspires memories of home linens freshly washed, then dried in the cool spring breeze. This is what this body creme truly smelled like. My grandmother had one of those old washing machines that hooked up to the sink and she would wash her clothes. Then she would take them outside to the two clotheslines that she had strung from tree to tree and hang them out to dry for the day. That brought back so many memories when I used this lotion, it had a clean, fresh scent and made my skin feel really soft and smooth at the same time. This is great lotion and quickly has become one of my favorites to use. I will definitely be ordering more of this in the near future.

*Cashmere Body Creme- The ultimate in luxury. The natural elements, color and fragrance are the perfect blend of classic and contemporary style for the bed and bath. This body creme is simple yet luxurious to use with a soft, simple scent that is definitely not overpowering. It makes your skin smooth and supple as well. I really enjoyed using this lotion.

Green Holiday Giveaway: Hillhouse Naturals Holiday Diffuser Set

I have a small obsession with candles, scented oil burners, reed diffusers and an assortment of other fine smelling products. Every room in my house seems to have a different scent and it changes throughout the year, depending on what season it is. Spicy scents for fall, balsam fir at Christmas, coconut and pineapple for summer, etc. I like to walk in the door and detect a subtle scent in the air, preferably NOT the smell of the dog or last night's chili dinner!

Scented products like diffusers and candles make great gifts for family, friends and teachers and Hillhouse Naturals has a great variety of high quality products to choose from. If you have never heard of Hillhouse Naturals,the manufacture a variety of home fragrance products such as potpourri, candles, sachets, oils, fragrance mist and pillar candles. Hillhouse Naturals started out on the farm as a way for the family to earn a little extra pocket money and has bloomed into a well respected company that employs 30 women from the local community. They are still located on that same farm property and the surrounding land provides inspiration for their products.

I love the amazing selection of scents you can choose from on the Hillhouse Naturals website! They have some playful names like the Good Dog collection and a wide variety of items in their Holiday Collection. Whether you prefer fruity, floral, or earth scents you will be able to find something that appeals to you from this company! The candles are all made from soy wax which burns much more cleanly than traditional waxes and are made with locally grown soybeans. Other great ecofriendly practices include boxes that are manufactured with wind power and a catalog printed on recycled paper with soy based inks. Whenever possible, they use locally sourced, natural ingredients in their products!

For my review, I was sent a wonderful collection of reed diffuser scents and some wonderful candles.

My opinion: These candles are very high quality candles with a nice strong scent. The package says that one 7 ounce candle has a 50 hour burn time and I do not doubt that at all...it is slow burning and has a wonderful aroma! I absolutely loved the scents in theHoliday Living Green Diffuser Set that I was sent. The scents include: spiced pear, balsam wreath, and Cinnabark. My favorite has to be the Spiced Pear...it has a very light and fruity scent. The Cinnabark has a scent other than just cinnamon that I couldn't quite figure out so I went to the catalog and I think it is the cedarwood. It is a great combination of scents. I am going to save the Balsam Wreath until Christmas when I put up my tree. I love having the house smell like a pine forest in December...it gets me in the holiday spirit!
